How do I test this stand alone drive/manual library?

As part of an upcoming migration and rebuild project, I am trying to get a stand alone drive working on my current server. The goal is to have this drive available to the server, if needed, while the library is disconnected and moved around. Just in case someone needs to do a restore or something while the other server is being built.

I followed all the instructions in the documentation, and managed to define the manual library, define the drive, and define the path from the server to the drive.

Thing is, I have NO IDEA what to do next to test this thing. I tried checking out a volume from the automatic library and loading it into the manual drive, and tried to query it, audit it, etc.. From what I could see in the logs, it's like there was nothing there. I tried labeling it (with the same label) and at least it told me that the media was already labeled. So, I put it back into the automatic library.

I then inserted a blank, unlabeled tape into the manual drive, and managed to get it labeled. At least that's what the actlog reported. Then it ejected it, and when I do a Q VOL, it doesn't show up anywhere. Okay....

Then I tried to run a manual backup of the DB (Backup db devclass=LTO type=full vol=aab495L4), and specified the newly labeled tape, and the request insisted that I insert the media into the automatic library, and I could not figure out how to get it to look for it in the manual drive (Library). Eventually it timed out.

What can I do to confirm that this drive is working and usable?

Here's the results of the device config I've done so far (Omitting the entries for the existing automatic library)
