Hi,
I have been asked to perform a restore from our old redundant TSM 5.5.0 system.
Library was disposed of when system was retired.
I have managed to log onto the server, identify the files and tapes needed for restore.
I am about to purchase a standalone scsi tape drive (files to be restores are scattered over 8 tapes).
We no longer have IBM support (i believe 5 is out of support anyway?)
The drive I am looking at is http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/ta...#!tab=features
My questions:
Thanks for your help
I have been asked to perform a restore from our old redundant TSM 5.5.0 system.
- The system used to have a HP library (FC SAN) witch had 6 or 8 (I believe HP Ultrium 3 drives?).
- Windows 2003
- 2 TSM servers
Library was disposed of when system was retired.
I have managed to log onto the server, identify the files and tapes needed for restore.
I am about to purchase a standalone scsi tape drive (files to be restores are scattered over 8 tapes).
We no longer have IBM support (i believe 5 is out of support anyway?)
The drive I am looking at is http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/ta...#!tab=features
My questions:
- Will I need specific drivers? That only IBM would not give me if out of support?
- If using the hp drive mentionned above might be an issue, is there anyway I can conclusively identify the drives we had so that I can perhaps purchase it - Because TSM would already have these drivers installed?
- q path q drive q libr all return "No match found using this criteria."
- I have found this to configure tape drive, is that all there is to it? https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docv...id=swg21376419
- When doing restore, do I need to check each tape one by on, then do restore, then check tape out and so on?
Thanks for your help
