Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am still a bit of a newbie, but I will do my best to offer all the information I can in the first go.
TSM Server version 6.2.5 on AIX
Issue: Reclamation hasn't been completing when running as part of the daily activity. This resulted in insufficient scratch media. Being that there had been significant growth in total data being backuped up, this was (incorrectly) expected behavior. The issue snowballed. Tapes were coming back from the vault(offsite storage), but not enough to keep up with the demand for scratch media. The reclaimation issue was found and corrected. Now, 278 tapes are coming back, but the TS3500 doesn't have enough available slots to check in all the media.
Possible solution #1:
Manually checkin the media in "parts" and then check the media back out manually and put into storage.
Possible solution #2:
Manually checkin the media in "parts" and then remove/mark as destroyed.
Possible solution #3:
Ask for help on ADSM.ORG.
Being that we lost our team lead recently, the new senior and I weren't clear as to a way to proceed and thought we would seek assistance here.
Desired outcome: Tapes returned from vault are removed from TSM & Library but can be re-added at a later date should we have a need for additional scratch.
We use barcodes on our tapes and all tapes are already labeled and we have no way to replace the labels.
Thank you for the time you spend reading and responding to this and have a great day.
Kind regards,
RevDougNC
