Hi Pro's,
I have 100 new LTO4 tapes that I want to label in my IBM TS3584 SCSI library with TSM v.6.3.4
First of all I inserted all 100 tapes into the I/O station. The library then automatically puts all the new tapes into an empty slot in the library.
I now wanted to label all the new tapes but TSM does not find any tape to label. I do use the "search=bulk" due I have been told that all slots that the library uses for unlabled tapes are classified as "bulk"
I tried to executed the following command:
> label libv mylibraryname search=b labels=b checkin=scratch
TSM did not find any new volumes so I tried this instead:
> label libv mylibraryname search=y labels=b checkin=scratch
Same with that command. TSM didn't find anything.
I then tried to checkin all tapes and tried to run the label command again:
> checkin libv mylibraryname status=scratch search=b checkl=b
> label libv mylibraryname search=y labels=b checkin=scratch
> label libv mylibraryname search=b labels=b checkin=scratch
Nothing labeled...:(
After this I checked out 10 tapes to the I/O station and the re-executed the command:
> label libv mylibraryname search=b labels=b checkin=scratch
Now the tapes got labeled! I don't get why my first commands didn't work.
Can anyone tell me what the correct steps shall be if I in the future would like to label new tapes. Thanks!
/C
