I'm encountering the same problem on several TSM servers with deduplication. Everything seems to be working correctly but at some point, I encounter big performances issues, mainly when copying the data to TAPE copy pool.
After some tests, it seems that it is mainly with big files (not that big, some Gig) I monitored a backup storage pool process and as long as it copies files under some MB, everything is ok, I get 200 MB/sec. And as soon as it encounter a 10 Gb file or so, the throughput drops to less taht 10 MB/sec
At one customer's, the DB is quite large (around 700 GB) and there is a lot of activity on the disks for the Database (16 146 GB 15k RPM disks in raid 10)
At another customer's, the DB is quite small (6 Gb) and there is more RAM than the DB size. In that case, there is little disk activity but the CPU is high. And still an awfully low Throughput for my backup stg when encountering big files.
Has anyone already seen that ?
