Check IOstation/Bulk in LB3310

I,
is it possible to check which cartrige is in a IO station/bulk. My checking procedure is :
move drmedia * WHERESTate=VaultRetrieve TOSTate=ONSITERetrieve
CHECKIN LIBV LIB_3310 STATus=SCRatch SEARCH=bulk CHECKLabel=barcode waitt=0

if the operator forgets a cartrige it will not be in the list of cartrige has repatriate because she has been my first order. I want to replace the "move drmedia * " in the first by move drmedia TSMxxxL5 for every cartrige in the bulk.

How to prevent file expiration due to an unmounted disk?

I've run into this problem more than once. A drive fails on a linux client and it doesn't remount at the next reboot. The user is unaware due to lack of use of the drive/directory. The files are marked inactive and are expired after 45 days as the directory is now empty. Sometime later, the user notices the failure and asks for the files to be restored, which have now been expired and gone. How do I prevent this? Thanks.

I need help to know the best way how I can procede, I have 2 TSM 5.3.4 server aix with a library manager with a 3490 Tape Library and I want migrate all on a system with 2 TSM 6.3.4 server windows with a library manager with same Tape Library.
My question is : how can I export all data from a system (aix) to another (windows).

Unconfigure DRM

Hello!
TSM Extended Edition was registered for some time and i've used PREPARE and MOVE DRMEDIA. Now I need switch to Basic licence, i renamed NODELOCK files, so now QUERY LICENSE shows Extended Edition no licensed, but it is still in use. What I need to do, so it does not report, that extended edition is in use. I have tried to run AUDIT LICENSE, nothing changes.

Problem with NDMP Node Deletation

Hello,

I have a problem with the NDMP-node deletion.

Error ANR2152E REMOVE NODE : Inventory references still exist for node xxx.
ANS8001I Return Code 13.
There is no filespaces. I have deleted all schedulers, rules and datamovers for this node.

When I do "q node xxx f=d", there is no information.
When i do "select * from nodes where node_name ='xxx'" all information for this node is there.
So how can i solve this Problem?

anyone mirroring there TSM server using XIV or any other storage device ? Was thinking about trying to mirror the tsm server then relicate the dd (vtl) to our DR

i searched and couldn't find any answers to my questions. I just joined a company that has ignored it's tsm backup for a long time.
They are using DRM. The expiration is set for 6 days

I still have a bunch of old tapes in the vault with a date stamp of 02/11/2014 ( today is 03/19/2014). What I believed happened before I got here was that the tapes in question were still in the courier status when the db tape expired. After the expiration a move data * wherstate=courier was done which put these tapes into vault status, but now with no connection to the db tape. How do I get these tapes and data on them to expire. Do I Check them in as private and wait for drm to go through them again. Will this then expire the data ? Take in mind all migration, reclamation has been scheduled properly. I even ran a manaul expire inventory on the copy stgp. thanks

Cognos 8 problem

Hi and new problem

After so many error i uninstall cognos 8 ( by start ibm cognos 8 uninstall shortcut) and try to reinstall him by the tip installation and installing Tivoli Common reporting but i have this error at the end

TSM BA client & third party ARCHIVE software

Hi TSMers,
today a software house come and showed us some nice software: one to virtualize physical libraries and show them as a CIFS/NFS share and another one to migrate files (HSM). The HSM software has a centralized management interface that make it more "user friendly" than TSM HSM.
I asked the person about backups :) and he said that the software just set the "Offline bit" of migrated files:
does someone know how TSM BA client handles this kind of "offline bit set" files? Will this really reduce backup time as he stated? I don't think so...
I know that HSM and BA client work "together" to avoid sending the same file twice to TSM server, but I think that in a mixed environment a TSM backup could recall all migrated files..

Would like to hear from you :)

Newbie DR/migration test - Restored DB ok but fail to connect using baclient GUI

First, I did some reading in this forum and gathered as much information as I could and it helped me alot understanding stuff more than IBM doc most of the time.
Second, english is not my native language so be kind with me on that part.

I'm a TSM newbie and I'm doing DR/migration test for TSM 6.1, if I can sucessfully DR my original setup I will format/install w2k8r2 on the w2k3 box.

Here is my setup:
Original TSM: Physical --> win2k3 32 bit --> TSM 6.1.03 32bit--> Devclass file + Ts 3573 Tape library
DR TSM: VmWare VM--> win2k8r2 64 bit --> TSM 6.1.04 64bit--> Devclass file


Here is what I did, installed TSM in DR VM (VM-TSMLVL4), ran initial configuration wizard in standard mode, defined a node password, etc. all was fine. Installed BA client with admin command line. Initialised baclient using GUI. Connected as admin with default password, updated password and created new admin account. Defined a devclass file BDBACKUP2.


On original TSM I ran these command:

define devclass DBBACKUP2 devtype=file directory=E:\TSMLVL_DB maxcapacity=4G
backup db devclass=dbbackup2 type=full


Used FTP software to move the backup DB + dsmserv.opt + devconfig.out + volhist.out to new DR server.

On DR VM, stop tsm server1 service then command line: dsmserv.exe restore db todate=today
Got a few warning on screen about library DLL and other stuff but all completed succesfully.

I started tsm Server1 service and can connect to administrative command line (I get error when I try to change DRM file status about server not in compliance with License terms.)
Next problem appear when I launch the ba Client GUI it tries to connect to the original node VM-TSMLV4 and ask for password, I tried entering the node password that was working before and it didn't work (expected since DB was restored my logic says that node should be original node name). I tried entering the original TSM server node name: TSMLVL1 without a password or with the admin password but it doesn't work.

Problem is that on the original TSM I never entered any password to connect using the GUI, on the connection information when the GUI is connected I see:
Name: TSMLVL1
Type: windows
Version: 6.1.3.0
Archive retention: no

Authorization information
Authority level: client owner
Delete backup files: "YES"
Delete Archive files: "YES"
Deduplication: "Server Only"

Any pointer from there would be appreciated.

V7000 Unified & FCM for TSM

Hi All,

I have recently joined a company that are trying to get the best backup TSM backup solution for their v7000 unified solution. As this is a customer purchased environment there is currently no scope for increased expenditure.

From looking at the v7000 unified infocenter it would seem that the v7000 FlashCopy Manager does not support the file system side, only block data. This means to backup the file systems we are writing to TSM using the TSM client included in the v7000, to backup to an externalised tsm server.

Due to the limitations within the v7000 only one backup can run at a time meaning file systems have to be queued up for backups.

From reading documentation it would seem a viable option to create a snapshot of the file system & then use FCM for TSM to backup the snapshot, or even use FCM for TSM to backup the filesystem direct.

TSM Server: 6.3.4
TSM Client (in v7000): 6.3.0

Has anybody experienced this and if so please can they point me in a better direction than i seem to be heading?

after restoring DB - ERROR: server not in compliance with License terms

I'm a TSM newbie and english is not my primary language so please be kind to me.

I took TSM DB, dsmserv.opt, volhist.out, devconfig.out from the original server before running: dsmserv restore DB todate=today

I'm doing DR test and after I restored my TSM DB on a new server I started "tsm Server1" service and connected to administrative command line. When I try to change DRM (set drmfileprocess=yes) I get operation is denied. Server not in compliance with License terms. :confused:

The original server doesn't return this error when I run the same command.

Did I miss something in my recovery step ?

How do I get this license from the old server to the new server ?

Any help would be appreciated.

How to backup NFS mountpoint in daily schedule

We need to add NFS mountpoint in daily scheduled backup in linux. It is not backed up by default. Please let me know how to include in daily backup schedule.

TSM client :6.3.0.0

File System backup failure

one of our citrix server backup is failing with below error during scheduled backup.

i feel the memory allocation error is because 100 s of users currently logged in to this server as it is day time.

Advice - TSM server platform

hi,
The situation: New TSM installation.
The question: Does anyone see a reason not to choose Windows Server as the platform for the TSM server ?
Environment: This shop has Windows as the only OS so far.
The details:
To be protected by TSM: MS-SQL databases (15%) VMs (15%) and CIFS files (70%). All on Netapp. About 100-130TB
HW infrastructure for TSM: Disk pool (60TB in SATA), TS3500 library with 4xLTO5 drives. Dell server with 128GB memory, internal storage for TSM DB.
Plan
CIFS files: incremental forever, snapdiff of the snapmirror destination volumes. Place on File Devclass StgPool. Dedup enabled.
MS-SQL: tdp-sql
Bonus Points:
Is version 7.1 is stable ?

Multiple Issues with Oracle TDP

We are facing issues with the TDP oracle.
The issues are:-
  1. Sometimes it is taking a long time to finish the backup 23 hours instead of 9 hours.
  2. Also we have configured the 4 tapes to be used but sometimes it is taking 8 drives.


Client information as below:
CLIENT OS: AIX 5.3
Server Version : 6..3.4.300
TSM client Version: 5.5.3.4
Data Protection for Oracle Version 5, Release 4, Level 1.0
It is a cluster information. Oracle 9.2
